Divine Intervention: God Is Good!

Isn't it amazing how God just sees fit to step in sometimes and help out? There is no greater feeling than a moment when you experience divine intervention, or know someone experiencing divine intervention. I am going to tell you a story, and hope that it brings you peace and somehow makes even a small difference in your life. This actually happened, but for identity's sake, let's say the woman's name is Barbara, and we'll call her sister Anne.

Anne was at work when she got the call. Coming from the other end of the line was Barbara's voice calling, "Help me! Somebody help me!" Anne tried to get her to calm down. She could not do it, so she had no choice but to yell back. She yelled, "Barbara, where are you?! Where are you?! Tell me where you are!" Barbara said, "I don't know!"

This went on for about five minutes when suddenly another voice, a stranger, yelled in the background, "She is in Buckner!" At that point, Anne and her boss got in the car and headed toward where Barbara was located.

The stranger must have called the ambulance as well, but no one knows for sure. Barbara had gotten into a car accident. She flipped her car over somewhere on a backroad close to Buckner. When they got there, they discovered that her phone, the one from which Anne received the call, was not in her hand. It was buried deep in her purse. It somehow got bumped in the dilemma and automatically dialed Anne's number.

The road that Barbara flipped on is extremely low on traffic. There are hardly ever any vehicles spotted on that road. The stranger just happened to be driving by when he saw the scene. Barbara's car was completely flipped upsidedown and facing the direction opposite from which it was going. There did not appear to be any damage to the car. There were no other vehicles involved.

In the ambulance, Barbara was questioned about what happened. She responded, "I don't know. Who told my sister I was in an accident?" Anne was riding in the ambulance with her. Anne said, "Barbara, do you not remember talking to me on the phone?" Barbara said, "I don't know, maybe. The last thing I remember is I was eating chips."

They arrived at the hospital and wheeled her into the emergency room to get checked out. They ran a cat scan, and did all the necessary procedures. Barbara has thin blood, from having to take blood thinners. She also has a history of stroke, so everyone was thinking that she might have had another one since she had no recollection of the accident whatsoever. Her previous stroke completely wiped out her short-term memory, so that was also taken into consideration. She was not bleeding externally. They checked to make sure she was not bleeding internally. As it turns out, she was not. The cat scan showed that everything was fine. There was not a stroke. She was completely uninjured.

Back at the scene, the police were trying to figure out what exactly happened, since Barbara was unable to tell them from not remembering. They said that it looked like she had run off the edge of the road, and over-corrected, resulting in a flip.

If it had not been for the stranger driving right at just the right moment, and if it had not been for her phone dialing Anne all by itself, no one would have known she was out there until it was too late. She was being held in her seat by her seatbelt, hanging upsidedown. Being handicapped, she was unable to get out of the car. She would have hung there for hours, with all of the blood rushing to her head. If blood goes to a person's head for long enough, it can kill them. If it had not been for the stranger and the phone, she might have died.

God definitely stepped in and lent a helping hand. He is not done with Barbara just yet. Barbara still has a purpose. Perhaps this was a warning to Barbara. Walking away from an accident like that without even a scratch or a bruise? God definitely interferred. Maybe this was a heads-up to her, because had this not happened, something much worse could have happened later. It is amazing what God will do, even when you don't know to ask him. God works miracles everyday. If it weren't for Him, Barbara might not have made it out of that alive.  That, my friends, is divine intervention at its finest.
